Welcome

Welcome to Ansonia UMC!
If you’re looking for a church home, or just passing through, you are more than welcome to join us for worship on Sunday’s at 10:30 AM.  Our church family is warm, friendly, and welcoming. And best of all, you can come as you are: Jeans, shorts, or even dressed up if that’s what you like to do!

For the time being, we will be offering live streaming worship services each week on Sundays at 10:30 AM.  Please go to http://facebook.com/ansoniaumc/ to join with us in song, sharing and message.

May God bless you every day!

Announcements

  • Return to In-Person Worship

    Dear friends,

The Ansonia UMC Vision Team has determined that we will open the church for worship this Sunday, June 7 at 10:30 am.  The Vision Team met on June 1 and developed these guidelines to ensure the safety of all worshippers and reduce the risk of infection.  Each Worship Service will continue to be live-streamed on Facebook.  Each individual needs to use their best judgment on which method of worship to use.  Anyone who has a pre-existing condition that puts them at a higher risk should consider remote worship.

We would like to share with you what is going to happen in order to have a safe and healthy start-up.

    1. Hand sanitizer and tissues will be provided that we would like for you to use when entering the church.
    2. We recommend that you wear a mask. If you don't have one, we will have a few available.
    3. Anyone who is sick is to remain home.  Per CDC guidelines, anyone who has a fever, shortness of breath, or a dry cough is to isolate as these are the most common symptoms of COVID-19.  We ask the congregation to self-monitor their health.
    4. We will not have our “Greeting Time.”  If you need to talk or discuss something with someone, we ask that you do it outside.
    5. Social distancing must be followed.  Everyone should try to remain 6 feet apart at all times.  Pews will be marked off to allow families to sit together and for people to maintain appropriate distance.
    6. We will not be passing the offering plates. They will be at the back of the church.
    7. To ensure the safety of our staff and volunteers, children will need to remain with their family at all times.  Children’s Church, Children’s Sunday School, and Nursery services will not be offered at this time.
    8. We will refrain from singing Praise songs or Hymns for now, but there will be music played for us to enjoy and those who wish to sing along with music will be asked to wear a mask. We are hoping this can change as the year progresses.
    9. It is probable that we will not be having Communion this month, unless we can figure out how to do it safely, but will have some type in July.
    10. Restroom use should be limited to dire need or emergencies.
    11. The Adult Sunday School classes will be making their own decisions on when to meet.
    12. Upon the conclusion of the worship service, the congregation will be dismissed by section. It is requested that everyone exit the building at that time.

These guidelines are not permanent and will be evaluated and adjusted as necessary.

  • 2020 VBS - Wilderness Escape

Join us on July 12 - 14 for a trip back in time to hang out with Moses!  Families will have great opportunities to worship together, do crafts and have a short devotion each evening.  For all the details, and to get kids (and VOLUNTEERS!) registered, go to vbspro.events/p/ansoniaumc-vbs2020.

Children MUST be preregistered by July 3 to receive a packet delivered to them!

  • Lunch and Learn

Are there parts of the Bible that challenge you?  Are there things that don’t make sense?  Have you ever had questions about faith, religion, and God but were afraid to ask?

The Worship Team will be hosting four “Lunch and Learns” throughout the coming year.  These will be opportunities to gather in fellowship, but they are primarily intended for us to gather and ask questions about the Bible.  These will be a time of sharing our thoughts and learning more about God’s holy Word.  These Lunch and Learns are currently scheduled for the fifth Sunday of March, May, August, and November.  We hope you will join us in this time of Biblical exploration.

  • After Words

We’re bringing back the “After Words” inserts.  These are opportunities to generate conversation and thought about the Sunday morning message to get you talking with family and friends following the church service.  “After Words” is a presentation of questions and ideas to stimulate conversation and a deeper understanding of the message.  We hope you will give it a try.
